Edge's News: Chimamanda Adichie puts the Catholic Church in Eastern Nigeria on Blast….Video
The Catholic Church teaches that one of the seven corporal works of mercy is to ‘bury the dead.’
The Holy Mass is sacred.
The Holy Mass in honour of the dead is especially sacred.
The Holy Mass is NOT an avenue for settling petty scores and for airing the insecurities of small-minded clergy.
The dead deserve dignity.
I would like to start a storytelling movement on this issue. Please join me.
Share your own stories about your experience of burials and funerals in the Nigerian Catholic Church.
Name the parish and the town and the date(s) but please do NOT name the priest or the bishop. We do not want to risk turning this into a personal witch hunt.
Be as detailed as possible about what happened.
Tyranny thrives in the face of silence.
Let us tell our stories and hopefully put an end to this.
As Pope John XXIII said when he opened the Second Vatican Council, it is time to “open the windows and let in the fresh air."
Please post here only if you have a story. If you want to write a blind defence of the church, consider all the other more constructive ways that you could use your time instead.
May this begin a much-needed change.
