Edge's News: Outrage over Kenyan teenager nailed to tree....

Kenyans are pouring outrage on social media following the nailing of a teenager to a tree by unknown persons over alleged radio theft. Nineteen-year-old Collins Sambaya was found in the morning nailed to a tree in his Izava Village in Vihiga County, on Friday. February 18, 2022. Sambaya was secured to the tree, arms wide apart, with two roofing nails driven through each palm of his hands. Shocked villagers reported the incident to the police, who promptly rescued him. Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the incident in a statement. The incident brought Izava Village to a standstill, with shocked and distraught villagers watching in disbelief from a distance as officers rescued Sambaya and rushed him to a hospital. According to the DCI, a manhunt has been launched for the suspects “with the area security team employing every available resource to apprehend the suspects.” Vihiga County is an administrative region in the former Western Province of Kenya...

A Georgia judge sentenced Travis McMichael and his father Gregory McMichael on Friday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for what he called the “killing" 2020 murder of Ahmaud Arbery, a Black man running through their mostly white neighbourhood in the southern U.S. state. Judge Timothy Walmsley also gave a life sentence to their neighbour William "Roddie" Bryan but ruled that he could seek parole after 30 years in prison, the minimum sentence allowed for murder under Georgia law. Echoing comments made by Arbery's anguished relatives earlier in the hearing at Glynn County Superior Court, the judge condemned the three men for what he described as their mistake of failing to see Arbery as just another neighbour. He said he gave the McMichaels the harshest sentence available in part because of their "callous" words and actions captured on a cellphone video that sparked national outrage when it became public in the summer of 2020. Rapper and actor, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz The Bhad Guy, and Comedian Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, have joined the car procession at the #EndSARSMemorial protest at Lekki tollgate in Lagos. This is despite a ban on protests in Lagos and the heavy presence of armed police personnel at the tollgate.  The celebrities and other activities who turned up at the tollgate with their cars were seen waving Nigerian flags from inside the vehicles and honking the horns while singing solidarity songs. Some of the activists who spoke to newsmen stated that they will continue going to and fro the tollgate as their own way of protesting against the alleged killing of protesters at the tollgate on October 20, 2020.
