Edge's News Update: EFCC Releases Senator Theodore Orji Former Abia State Governor On Bail
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has released former governor of Abia State, Senator Theodore Orji after being detained by operatives of the anti-corruption agency after questioning over N48Billion security votes
The Senator was arrested with their son Chinedu over alleged misappropriation of N2billion Ecological Fund and conversion of Sure-P funds while the former governor was in office between 2007 and 2015. They were intercepted at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Thursday, August 19. You can read @edge
According to sources familiar with the case, Mr Orji was granted administrative bail after facing hours of interrogation at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja at about 9 p.m. on Thursday.
The lawmaker, currently representing Abia Central Senatorial District at the Senate was asked to return to the EFCC office for further interrogation on Friday.
